Dastrov Construction Concierge Services

Re: Alon Baruch project, Brooklyn

I am writing on behalf of Dastrov Construction Concierge Services LLC to provide an unqualified reference for Mountain Mechanical NY Inc. based on their performance as the mechanical contractor on the Alon Baruch project. Our firm had direct, day-to-day oversight of the work, and I can speak to their conduct on site and to the quality of the result they delivered. The Mountain Mechanical team produced thorough daily reports, weekly summaries, and accurate two week "look ahead" schedules.

Value engineering. From the earliest design conversations through buyout, Mountain Mechanical brought constructive, cost-conscious solutions to the table. Their team challenged specifications where there was a smarter equipment selection, a more efficient routing, or a phasing approach that protected the schedule, and they did so without compromising the design intent.

Timeliness of work. Mountain Mechanical met every milestone we set for them on the Alon Baruch project. Submittals were issued early, long-lead equipment was tracked and expedited, and field crews mobilized when promised. When other trades fell behind, their team adapted their sequencing rather than using it as a reason to slip — which kept the overall project on track.

Demeanor of personnel. Their foremen, mechanics, and project management staff were professional, respectful, and easy to work with throughout. They handled coordination meetings, RFI traffic, and field discussions with the same composure — which is something we do not take for granted.

Attention to detail across all disciplines. Mountain Mechanical's scope cut across multiple disciplines, and the quality of their installation was consistent in every one of them. Hangers and supports were neat, equipment was set plumb and accessible for service, penetrations were properly fire-stopped, and the final commissioning and closeout documentation were thorough. Punch lists were short and were closed out promptly.

Based on our experience of the Alon Baruch project, located at 1989 and 2003 Coney Island Avenue, Brooklyn; I recommend Mountain Mechanical NY Inc. without hesitation.

Re: Public Storage portfolio — 40+ facilities across NY, NJ, and PA

There are many mechanical contractors operating in this region, and over the years we have worked with most of the prominent names. Mountain Mechanical NY Inc. is the one I would put in front of you without hesitation, and that is why I am taking the time to write this.

Our Public Storage portfolio has trusted Mountain Mechanical with HVAC services across more than 40 facilities throughout New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Over the past year alone, they have handled close to 80 work orders across that portfolio — covering emergency service response, preventive maintenance, VRF rescue and full retrofit replacement and conversion, refrigerant work, gas-to-heat-pump conversions, and complete equipment replacements. We are presently in active negotiations with Mountain Mechanical for renovations and retrofits spanning over 1,200,000 square feet of space within our portfolio.

What sets them apart is their commitment to honest work. On multiple occasions, their technicians arrived expecting a full unit replacement, identified the root cause — a failed gas valve, dirty condenser coil, stuck sensor, or mis-programmed controller — and had the system back online the same day at a fraction of the replacement cost.

Their preventive maintenance program is equally strong. Building surveys, AHU and coil inspections, filter service, air balance testing, and refrigerant monitoring consistently identifying problems before they become emergencies.

If you are looking for a mechanical contractor who takes ownership, performs honest work, and stands behind it across a demanding multi-state portfolio, you would be hard-pressed to find a better partner than Mountain Mechanical NY Inc.

Aztec Mechanical

Re: One Domino Square, Two Trees Management — Kent Avenue, Williamsburg

I am writing to recommend Mountain Mechanical NY Inc., owned and operated by Peter A. Montana, based on direct experience working with their team at One Domino Square, the Two Trees Kent Avenue Site One development at 346 Kent Avenue, Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Aztec Mechanical served as the Contractor of Record on the project, responsible for the scope across the two-tower, 55-story and 39-story Selldorf-designed residential complex developed by Two Trees Management.

Mountain Mechanical NY Inc. was engaged to perform the full back-of-house mechanical finals on the project, including the commissioning of every floor from the basement through the mechanical penthouse at the roof. Their work covered system walkdown and startup verification, controls validation, air and water balancing coordination, deficiency identification and closeout, and the supporting documentation required for owner turnover and warranty.

Throughout the engagement, Peter and his team performed professionally, on schedule, and with notable attention to detail. Their field documentation was thorough and well organized. Their tradesmen are factory-trained and manufacturer-certified on the equipment they service. Their pricing was competitive and, in several instances, better than that of comparable contractors. They stand behind their work, return promptly when called back, and operate with the discipline you want from a mechanical sub on a project of this scale.

I would recommend Mountain Mechanical NY Inc. without reservation to any owner, general contractor, construction manager, or mechanical contractor of record looking for a capable, accountable, and well-organized mechanical service partner.

Re: National Account go-to contractor in NY

Peter Montana is a highly motivated individual who stands behind his word. As an equipment manufacturer, we see a lot of different levels of mechanical contractor when it comes to attention to detail, accuracy of information, and honesty. I can confirm from firsthand experience that Peter and Mountain Mechanical are at the top of the charts in all of these categories.

My team specializes in National Account projects, so it is important to find the "right" sub-contractor to ensure my clients stay happy with our product. Incorrect installation is the number 1 reason we have challenges after a space is turned over, so it is absolutely critical that the job is done correctly the first time. I have complete confidence in Peter, and he is our go-to contact anytime we have a project in NY.

I highly recommend Peter and Mountain Mechanical for any HVAC related needs.

Re: 8 schools across the New York area

Peter Montana and Mountain Mechanical have been a great resource for our swim schools. He has been involved in two build outs and countless repairs on our 8 schools that we have in the New York Area.

In addition, he is also servicing all of our swim schools in the New York Area with Preventative Maintenance for the HVAC, Boiler and Pool Systems.

You can't go wrong with Mountain Mechanical.

Ten Insurance Services Corp.

Re: Workers Comp EMR record + 12-year insurance history

Mountain Mechanical NY currently has a 1.00 EMR for Workers Compensation. Since its inception, Mountain Mechanical has not had a single Workers Compensation claim, which makes us expect a .86 EMR upon their anniversary rating date next year.

On another note, I have been insuring Peter Montana's construction companies for the last 12 years. Their performance for those years yielded better-than-average losses and EMRs for their industry.

Catan Equipment Sales (CES)

Re: 15-year manufacturing rep relationship

Catan Equipment Sales (CES) is a NYC & LI Manufacturing Representative firm that has been in business for over 40 years. CES has had the privilege of working with Pete Montana and RMS for 15 years. Over these 15 years a few of the larger projects CES has had the privilege to work with Pete on are:

  • FBI Make Up Air Unit
  • Cube Smart Storage
  • McKeon Doors
  • Stanley Steamer
  • Cooper Ave / Treasure Island
  • Dark Storm Firing Range
  • RIOC Bus Depot

Pete Montana has always been CES's "go-to" guy for every project that we required service or a challenging repair or installation. The FBI Make Up Air Unit project is a great example of this. CES's manufacturer sent a Make Up Air unit that required serious in-field re-configuration and start-up. We contacted Pete Montana. Pete immediately went to the job site, put together a resolution strategy, employed the resources necessary to make the proper changes and repair. Pete had the project completed in the time allotted and the customer was thrilled with the results.

All of our experiences with Pete Montana have been extremely positive. Pete has always acted in a manner that is extremely professional with high integrity. We consider Pete to be a good friend and a great business partner.

CCOM Group, Inc. (Universal Supply Group)

Re: Arverne by the Sea, Hurricane Sandy, USG largest customer

I have been in the HVAC industry for nearly 45 years, and I first had the pleasure of meeting Peter Montana in late 2010 while working in the Rockaways. Peter successfully negotiated the contract for a landmark project known as Arverne by the Sea. The project encompassed more than 2,000 condominium residences and "The Dunes," a seven-story residential apartment structure featuring first-floor mixed-use retail stores and restaurants.

Peter Montana quickly became one of Universal Supply Group's largest customers, supporting our Hicksville branch through consistent and substantial business. Additionally, Peter Montana Company maintained an excellent credit line with USG, allowing us to confidently support larger-scale projects due to his strong financial standing and professional reputation.

As I came to know Peter, it became immediately evident that he genuinely cared about his customers and approached every situation with professionalism and integrity. His extensive understanding of mechanical systems, value engineering, and HVAC operations distinguished him within the industry. His company was also one of the first service responders during Hurricane Sandy, restoring essential systems and related services for more than 2,000 customers while successfully obtaining several NYC Rapid Repair contracts.

It is my pleasure to highly recommend Peter Montana to anyone seeking expertise in mechanical contracting, HVAC systems, value engineering, or mechanical consulting.

Frank G. Relf Architect, P.C.

Re: 10-year self-storage design partnership

This letter is to serve as a personal/business reference letter as it relates to Peter Montana and is based on knowing Peter over the last 10 years or so from our working relationship, predominately within the project type of self storage.

As principal of Frank G. Relf Architect, P.C., I have known Peter Montana from doing business with RMS Reliance Mechanical Services as mechanical contractors for several self storage developers, in particular Safe N Lock along with several other developers.

Over the years I have been able to rely upon Peter for technical assistance for various mechanical system components, for pricing strategies for various installations, and to vet out problematic issues on projects.

I find Peter to be very professional, responsive to me with all requests, and quite knowledgeable within the mechanical field.

During the construction phase of projects, Peter has been communicative, and looks to resolve issues on-site in as expeditious a manner as possible. His management of staff and technicians has been strong.

In short, I value his experience, professionalism, and responsiveness and look forward to many more years of a business relationship together.

Re: Manufacturer-rep view on Pete's technical leadership

Although I have only had the pleasure of working with Pete Montana for six months, I have been familiar with his reputation and career in the HVAC industry for many years. Progressing through the ranks gave Pete an invaluable education and perspective to an ever-evolving industry. The development and success of Reliance Mechanical alone is a testament to Pete's knowledge, skills and networking abilities.

Although I only worked with Pete for six months, his guidance was instrumental in the successful development of a new residential division at RMS. Pete was always available to lend a hand with project designs, specifications and applications. In short, Pete's knowledge and vast industry resources and relationships will be sorely missed by RMS and their clientele.

Wayne Atkins — The HVAC "Business Doctor"

Re: Industry peer reference

It is with great pleasure that I offer my congratulations on Pete's consulting firm. We met at least six years ago at a Johnstone Supply meeting. He had taken my financial management and net profit pricing system and implemented it at his firm. He wanted to have me come to his business, RMS, and review his calculations.

When we met, I was very impressed. He had taken my basic model and had made many modifications to it. The reason this was impressive is that probably less than 30% of the contractors that attend training ever use it. He not only used it, he understood it to the point where he made it far more extensive in scope of information he linked to the basic model. It proved that he completely understood the concepts.

Over the years we had gotten to know each other even better and Pete has proven to be a great project manager as well as a general manager of a large HVAC contracting firm. He has made wise staffing decisions in evaluating all staff. He has proven to be a formidable sales person capable of establishing and maintaining relationships.

For all of these reasons, please consider me a reference and feel free to provide my contact information to any inquiring client.

Re: 15-year character and credit reference

I am writing this informal reference recommendation for an individual I've known for the better part of 15 years by the name of Peter Montana. I've known Peter through dealings for different business opportunities he has successfully owned and operated, and I offer my experience as the Director of Credit for Blackman Plumbing Supply in Bayport NY where I was employed for almost 19 years.

I have found Peter to be a man of his word and a man determined to succeed. He lives for his family and now enjoys the role of a Grandfather more than a business owner. The company I most recently resigned from extended Mr. Montana commercial credit into the low 6 figures on different occasions and never did we run into any issues with his responsibility for repayment. An individual like that has earned respect and I for one am proud to offer my opinion as well as my recommendation as a character witness on behalf of Peter Montana.

Home Energy Solutions, Inc.

Re: LIPA Clean Energy program collaboration

For the past ten years I have come to know Peter Montana as a fair and honest man. I first met Pete when I was working for LIPA's Clean Energy program which was providing incentives to contractors and home owners to install high efficiency HVAC equipment. Peter was very motivated to provide this for his customers hoping they would see the value of a contractor who cares about the builders' cost.

Over the years Peter and I have been involved in many projects where my office provided the load calculations prior to his firm installing the equipment. We were so busy I had to dedicate an employee to just do RMS work.

All in all, Peter is still a stand-up guy. I can only wish him all the best.
